Frequently Asked Questions

What is the fascial system?

The fascial system is the connective tissue that runs continuously throughout your body.

Over time, the fascia gets restricted due to dehydration, trauma, surgery, microtraumas caused by postural asymmetries, inflammation, birth trauma, and/or scar tissue.

These restrictions prevent our bodies from staying in alignment and moving with ease as we were designed.

Myofascial release is a gentle, hands-on approach where clinicians apply sustained pressure to allow for changes in your fascial system.

These changes help to improve your alignment, posture, decreased pain, and ease of movements throughout the day.

What do I wear?

A posture check is done at each session, so please wear loose fitting clothing. Women typically wear a tank top and shorts, and men typically wear a t-shirt, and gym shorts. Myofascial Release Techniques are applied directly to the skin. On the day of your appointment, please refrain from wearing any perfume, lotion, oils, or creams as these may decrease the efficacy of treatments.

Do you take my insurance?

Turquoise therapeutics is a fee-for-service physical therapy clinic. I am considered and out of network provider for all insurance companies. Upon request, I will provide you with a super bill (receipt that has the necessary codes) that you can submit to your insurance provider, and they will reimburse you directly. Please call your insurance provider to find out your out of network benefits specific to your individualized plan.

The most common CPT (Current Procedural Terminology) codes that I bill are:

97161: PT Evaluation Low Complexity

97162: PT Evaluation Moderate Complexity

97163: PT Evaluation High Complexity

97110: Therapeutic Exercise

97112: Neuromuscular Re-education

Can I bill my insurance so I can get reimbursed for my out-of-pocket expenses?

It depends on your insurance. However, most insurance companies allow you to submit self-claims directly to them. Your insurance provider will be able to provide you with the actual amount of reimbursement or application towards your deductible. Ask them about reimbursement for out of network physical therapy expenses sent in via self-claim. Print off the self-claim form on your insurance company's website and submit it to them with the superbill (receipt with necessary CPT codes) that I can provide to you upon your request.

Do I need a referral from my doctor?

Illinois is a direct access state, meaning all self-pay patients are able to schedule an initial appointment without a physician’s referral. However, Medicare does require a physician’s order/script within 30 days of starting a physical therapy program.

How are payments accepted?

Turquoise Therapeutics is a direct-pay Physical Therapy clinic. This means you pay me at or before the time of service, then after services are provided, you are provided with a superbill, “receipt” that you can submit via a self-claim to your insurance company in order to be reimbursed at their out of network rates. I accept payment via cash, Zelle, credit or debit cards.

What is the cancellation policy?

Cancellations with less than 48-hour notice will result in 50% of your session charges, and failure to attend your appointment (no show) will require the 100% of your session charges.
